Aaliyah Pitts has emerged as a standout prospect in the graduating high school class of 2020. Described as a guard or a wing due to her skill-set and height at 6-0, to go along with her athleticism and versatility. Aaliyah’s extensive dancing background correlates to her having excellent footwork on the basketball court. “In Miami I danced competitively from ages 5 through 10. Then we moved to New Jersey where I started playing basketball in the 5th grade. My mom was my first basketball coach. She played division one basketball at Florida International. I played for my middle school team. Fell in love with the game of basketball, and have been playing AAU since.” Tatana Pitts noticed at an early age that the apple didn’t fall to far from the tree and her daughter was a naturally gifted and driven competitor. “Aaliyah transitioned to basketball in the 5th grade from competitive dance, I wasn’t sure about this change, but soon realized that Aaliyah has pretty good talent. Aaliyah has a lot to work on when it comes to her basketball skills, but I am very proud of her work ethic, and competitive drive and attitude towards the game.” Says Tatana.

Pitts plays for the Virginia based Team Loaded travel club, a program that instills strong offensive and defensive concepts. Woodbridge High School head coach Tamika Dudley does a great job with the team and will develop Aaliyah as a prospect. “This AAU season I was able to play for coach Cortez with Team Loaded in showcase events like the Deep South in Raleigh, North Carolina and others. I also participated in the University of Michigan, University of Maryland and Penn State elite camps, as well as Michigan and North Carolina team camps. I also train individually to work on ball-handling,conditioning, strength and agility. I want to improve on my defense and shooting. I am planning to go to the Army Elite Camp in August and make unofficial visits to several colleges. For the upcoming high school season my goal is to keep developing my game and help my Woodbridge High School team win a state championship. Academically I would like to maintain a good GPA while balancing the AP scholars program and basketball” Look for Aaliyah Pitts to perform at a high level this fall and winter when Woodbridge travels to New York City to participate in the SayYesToSuccess Elite Showcase Event.
